3d background and coral insert

I live in the UK and when I get my new tank (4ft long) I am wanting to do a 3d background and coral insert. Where I live is a very small island and have no access of shipping corals in like I used to. So I am going to have to consider the artificial coral route which I am doing now but on a small scale and wanting to do it properly.

Does anyone know of a place that sells and ships coral inserts worldwide and also 3d background.

I've never done a 3d background only in my tropical tank but wondering if it is good to do on a marine tank too?

Any tips would be great!!

Because you live in Europe - you can easily use Back to Natures 3 d backgrounds. They are easy to work with and easy to drill holes for corals. I have use them in saltwater for many years - see my build thread.

Thanks, I am looking down the route of making my own insert but want the background to look authentic.
I already have a lot of artificial coral to add to my insert so just gotta to work out what to make it out of. What's yours made of?

Sand
Crushed coral
Pond foam
And egg crate

An insert isn’t going to look real nor will fake coral. After you see the real thing it’s just not the same. The colors are even wrong on some of the fake corals.

Inserts are common on the freshwater end of this hobby, wish the company lasse uses shipped state side.

But with the method listed above can create some stunning aquaecapes.

If going with temperate fish could also use local sea grass and macro algae for scaping with. If fails have ingredients for laverbread

I've had real coral before but as I live in a remote location meaning a 2 mile long island I am unable to ship real corals in anymore so I have to go down the artifical route. I have been using artifical for a yes now and I don't mind it to much. Believe me I would prefer the real thing but not an option anymore.

Any reef clubs by you or some you can buy from or trade with? Even the fake stuff at public aquariums looks like crap to me guess I been snorkeling to much and on to many glass bottom boats.

Haha I wish I'm the only nutter on this small island to have such a tank. I've had one for years now but finding buying corals harder to get around and very costly to do. It's hard and expensive for fish too and that's the main reason why I enjoy the marine side of fish keeping.
