3d printing frag plugs?

I get through quite a few frag plugs and here in the UK they are between 20p and 30p per plug!

I 3d print components for my tank but never thought to try 3d printed plugs. I had an attempt at making concrete plugs and it was quite labour intensive and didn't turn very well! Plus...3 week cure time!

Pros: click a button and out they come, make any design or size you like...

Any cons?

I’ve heard of some corals not wanting to grow on the plastics. But not sure how true this is

I haven't tried it, but now I'm curious. I imagine any of the corals that like to spread into frag racks and egg crate would grow just fine on them still

The only issue i can see is weight....but I guess with 100% infill it may be ok. I will try it out and will report back!

So I printed a variety of plugs last night including some cool snap off plugs where the stem can be easily removed. With 100% infill they are heavy enough to do the job. They also work out to be under 10p each so at least half the price of the cheapest eBay plugs I can find.

So far so good.

I think as long as u can make the surface smooth like a bathroom tile sure np do it. Go for it.
U should make squares. Disc's. Ect. Lmk. Thank
