3D Printing thread

I use https://mattshub.com/2017/04/19/extruder-calibration/

Most slicers have a built in ability to send Gcode if you can hook the printer via USB (or possibly WiFi).

It takes all of 10 minutes to do properly. I have gotten to where I do it on Saturday morning right after breakfast. That way, if the boy's want to jump on and print, it's ready.

What process do you use for the extruder calibration? I'm not sure I can get into the EEPROM and even if I can they'd probably rather I not :)
Using Matter control slicer from Mattter hackers . there are instructions on how to calibrate on there website as well. I found it easiest to use ..

Actually almost all the info i have shared has been obtained from there website. Very straight forward simple Troubleshooting and advice that really does apply to the issues we have starting out with 3d printing. Not being afraid to fail is the best tool we have to learn ,Especially since materials are so cheap. The only loss is waiting time

You gotta print it with TPU...

Speaking of . have you tried it yet... the one I have used is flexible but not as soft as say the ninja flex .

I haven't tried anything flexible yet. My son asked me if our printer could do it the other day and I said yes, but that's as far as the conversation got.

I have printed some bumpers for tool boxes in the back of my Work van to Quiet things down a bit . Like for the security gate and drawers . I am working on latter mittens as well as rubber covers for air tool fittings as i usually tape these to protect customers floors when doing hard wood flooring . I printed some battery racks for my Power tool batteries as well .

not really many Aquarium related stuff ...

Be prepared to install a bootloader and firmware change.

I don’t see why that would be neccesary- could you explain? A new hotend seems like it would just require offsets/ pid tune. I’m not familiar with most of that stuff haha

The thermistor from e3d needs an adjustment to firmware to read Temps correctly. The printer is unusable without it. It reads the printer changing Temps by 100° in just a few seconds when you try to heat the hotend.

The ender 3 pro may have a bootloader, I haven't checked.

It’s pretty difficult to resell (cheap) printers unless local because shipping will be like $40+. Typically makes it not worth it

Yeah, but it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

I have an opportunity to pick up an ender 2 locally. It's brand new in the box for $120. Do you think that's worth it?

Well it looks like I have some tuning to do...
