What are the best options for lighting a 3ft tank? A lot of the lights on the market seem to be made for a 2ftx2ft area or a 2ftx4ft area, but I was wondering what lighting would fill the gap between these sizes. I would prefer to stay towards LEDs but I am interested in all the possibilities. Thanks

How wide and tall is the tank, length is not the only dimension to consider when selecting lights. An additional consideration when choosing lights is what type of corals you plan to keep as well.

24 inches wide and 18 inches deep. It would be nice to have room to grow into SPS but I would be focusing mostly on softies and LPS rn.

I believe the Maxspect Razor line leans toward the purple spectrum and gets good reviews on here.
Are those more efficient than black boxes? I've dismissed those in the past since the unit I would need is rated as 200W but I currently run two 165w black boxes.

Black boxes are capable of putting out 700+ par. It would take high end LED to accomplish that. Kessil 500, ai hydras

Have you heard about people keeping SPS under Razors?
They are capable, quick search will show results. Albeit they may not be the best choice, however they would check the box of a light capable of a more purple tint. At least that’s how they have always appeared to my eye.

GHL Mitras 7206 is rated for 36" x 24" x 30" (LxWxH).

Any of the single puck lights like AI Primes, Radion XR15, Maxspect Jump can be purchased in multiples to get the coverage you want.

orphek icon or 2 radions would also work. Reefi unos are nice as well

One Neptune Sky and you're done. 2 XR15 will also work but the 24" front to back will be tough.

If you want some real fun, a Reef Brite halide hybrid. Best light available IMO.

My tank is 3' wide and I use 2 XR15 pro lights. I really like the mobius app and sleek look.
