3mm3 RedSea 650 Peninsula

I've been looking for some cabinet lights for ages, instead of my LED torch , but sometimes you can't see things for looking to much!

Tank set up is all looking very good and glad your sump is sorted, which also looks very smart.

The lights are a lot nicer than I expected. The pucks are a 2 piece aluminum body that screws together. They are also extremely low profile. I also liked that the wires are quite long so I didn't have to worry about how I would wire them.

Well I clearly didn't get enough sand. That was 120lbs and not the coverage I was going for. Placing an order for another 40lbs live sand.
Tank is cloudy from moving rocks to the sump and spreading sand out but can see the rocks that made the cut so far. I also placed a rock from the display in the middle to seed pods and coraline algae. I'm going to keep the rocks low to give room for corals to grow and fish to swim.
Tonight I get to work on rock layout.

Glad you have the tank filled up, I'm excited that it's all coming together for you. That stinks about sand, but at least you don't have tons left over that you have to return.

I've been trying to think of how you can run your RO to your top off container. The only thing I could suggest is doing murlock line and have it magnetically attached or buy a wire holder and glue it to the sliding container. How far from the tank is your RO reservoir?

Looking great!

I'm going to do some brain storming with that idea. Was also thinking of having a glass company cut and ship me a glass lid for the RO tank. I want it to stay nice and clean until it's needed.
Currently my RO holding tank is upstairs in the stand of my corner tank however I am building a water storage area about 15 feet from the RedSea reefer setup.

Just swapped over one mp 40 from the corner tank. Getting some crazy undertow. Going to be interesting seeing how much pumps the sand will be able to handle.

What sand did you end up going with?

I used 1 bag crushed coral. I thought it was 20lbs but may actually have been bigger.
100lbs of caribsea special grade.

Last night I ordered 40lbs of this. The item description actually lists two completely different Sands so I'll see which one arrives. Special or bimini. Either way for that price I'll be happy.

Looks great... Definitely has me rethinking the peninsula option. The flexibility for location of tank is just too inviting. (Not that it will be moved once set-up- LOL )

Really nice of RS to help with the sump tank, so kudos to them. Do they offer a non-sump purchase option? With all these specialized sump systems available in the "after-market"... Just a thought.

Have some glass to clean, and rock work to design. Probably bring down some more rock from the corner tank. Anyways here is my start to the big tank transfer.
Its going to be a busy week.

Was just thinking today... I jumped on the LED wagon quite a few years back and I have to say I truly forgot just how good halide lighting looks.

Sand is in. Well the bimini pink overall grain size was smaller than I hoped. But it should all mix nicely together. So my running tally with sand.
100lbs CaribSea special grade Arag-Alive
40lbs CaribSea Bimini Pink Arag-Alive
15lbs Topfin crushed coral. (Less than previously thought)
CaribSea website info for grain size:
Special Grade 1 - 2 mm
Bimini Pink .5 - 5 mm
This is a picture of bimini pink sitting on the special grade for comparison.

Probably a few more days until the peninsula water temp matches my corner tank. Guess that's a downfall of not owning a heater lol.
I guess I'm waiting a bit longer to swap the stuff over to the new setup.

What's the temperature at now?

Here is a quick look at temp. My target is 75. I actually shut the ac off in the fish room trying to cook it.
