What's up guys. So me and my wife took our daughters to aquarium of the Pacific for my 6 year old birthday on Saturday. If any of you've been there you know how cool it is. Anyways long story short, I came home to a "dead" emerald crab he's upside down in an area I can't get to without moving rocks, so I haven't considered molting This is the 3rd one I have lost in 4 months if that's the case which has been with the 2 before. So if he's molting how long before he comes out of hiding ? And if that's not what's going on here. What could be the problem? I have not lost any fish besides the emerald crabs and 2 Halloween crabs. Thanks in advance.

To be honest they never have done well in my tanks for some reason, can you post what else is in your tank as well as parameters? #reefsquad any thoughts?

Are you actively feeding them, are they being out competed by the other members of the CUC.

I have a 60 gallon with 50 pounds of live rock one blue jewel damsel 1 green chromis damsel 1 dragon goby 1 lawnmower blenny 1 remaining emerald crab and about 10 hermit crabs. I feed them half to one full cube of brine shrimp a day and sometimes I'll skip one day and feed the following day. Parameters are normal. Except nitrate is high but I'm working on bringing that down.

10 hermit crabs.
this is probably a lot of competition. I have a 55g with 6 crabs. probably 4. and a thirty with none.
depending on the crab, and the snails, they each eat different foods, some prefer algae some meat. some both.

and dont feel bad the recommendations for tank CUC is sometimes really really unrealistic.

I see. Do you think I should just stop putting emerald crabs in there and stick with the coral bandit shrimp (which I forgot to add on the list) and hermit crabs as the CUC?.

I would, with those shrimp and hermits you have good coverage
