Whats everyones favorite color combination. Got some leds to play around with and see what looks good.
I got 2 - 24w dimmable 700ma drivers and 1- 33w 700ma driver

as for leds i ordered
10 3w white 3300k 3.6-3.8v 700ma
10 blue 3w 465-475nm 3.4-3.8v 700ma
10 royal blue 450-455nm 3.4-3.8v 700ma
2 green 510-530nm 3.4-3.8v 700ma
10 white 6000-6500 3.2-3.8v 700ma
10 purple 405-410nm 3.2-3.4v 600-700ma

I dont plan on using all of them. I'm trying these on a 10g frag tank and if I like the finished product I'd like to duplicate it on my 72g.

That is very similar to the build I did for my 90. The difference is that my LEDs were mostly 3.0v @ 1000mA (except the violets, I ran those and the blues at 700 MA), and that I added 10 RB 440-450nm. I initially did not use any green but I did use 2 deep red. My whites are a little warmer than yours are.
Overall, my light was very blue, maybe 18000K or so. I have no regrets about using 20 rub and I'm glad I mixed in both 440-450 nm and 450-465nm since both are so important for photosynthesis. I do wish that I'd used a couple more violet. OTOH, I've already pulled out 4 blues, they are overpowering everything else. I replaced them with cyan, it wasn't much better, I think I'll pull 2 cyans and another blue and put in more violet. I also added 2 greens, don't bother they are useless. Green isn't used in photosynthetic and all whites include a ton of green in their output.
My suggestions would be to use no more than 4 or 5 blues, get a few more RB, toss the greens and either get a few reds or swap the 6500K cool whites for something much warmer.

So are reds worth adding?
Absolutely, but corals need to be acclimated to them or you'll kill them. Most corals are found at depths where there is zero red spectra, and while it is beneficial to add red light (chlorophyll a has a peak around 660-670nm), must be done gradually. Also don't forget cyan light, you'll get a lot more response from red corals because of cyan light.

Heres what I came up with to try
ledlayout_zpsc7c22e71.jpg

the whites are white and the cream are warm white. blues are blue and dark blue is royal blue. red is red, green is green, purple is uv. I was thinking all blues on one driver and the rest on another, any thoughts?
