4” filter socks

I have an aquarium that I bought from an LFS that is his somewhat proprietary design. Overall I’m very happy with the design but the filter socks are EXACTLY 4” OD on the plastic ring. It seems like everyone’s 4” socks are 4-1/16, 4-1/8, etc. I did buy some before I realized what was going on and had to use a Dremel with a sanding belt to cut the OD down to fit in my EXACT 4” sump openings. Kind of a pain but it worked.

I’d rather not have to do this, does anyone know of any 4” socks that are exactly 4” OD? Also need to be anywhere from about 8.5 - 10.5 length.

There are plenty of filter socks that say they are 4" and in lengths that fit your range. But I can't confirm whether or not they are 4" on the OD -- probably easy enough to email a company like BRS for example and ask them.

You might have to call the LFS and ask what brand they used. There are many different manufactures as you know.
