Quick question, I installed the kh director, it ran fine for a few days and started developing a leak around the ph probe so I tightened the nut with a wrench. A few days later salt creep started to develop around the bottom lip and seams around the case. I summited a ticket. I read the label regarding the warranty am I out of luck? Should I open the case up since I no longer have a warranty or return the item as defective to the vendor I bought the item from? Thx.

It seems to me - that if you have a new item - the is defective - they should replace it? What is the part of the warranty that you think excludes they're replacing the unit? I would return the unit to the vendor from whom you bought it - if they allow that. Some vendors and companies want you to go directly through the manufacturer - if there is a problem after x days.

The label on the side where if I don’t tighten the nut tight enough and it leaks that will void the warranty. I bought it thru saltwater aquarium.com.

I'm shocked there is even a sticker that says that. Do they have insanely specific instructions on how exactly to tighten it and what tool to use? And more importantly, how exactly you will know that it is tight enough to GHL's specs?

I'm not sure how you as a general consumer could possibly know it's tight enough to ensure it's not going to leak without running it to check. And if it does leak, then the warranty is completely void?

I would definately open a ticket and see anyway. I'm glad you posted this thread otherwise I wouldn't have known about the little sticker. Saved me buying one lol

Exactly, no mention of a torque wrench with a crows foot or a torque spec. For reference I’m a quality source inspector for the world’s largest plane manufacturer.

Yeah I'm not sure how they can say it immediately voids the warranty. I mean, I get it if someone just didn't tighten it at all. But how can you prove that as a manufacturer? If it's becoming a problem of leaking probes then maybe a redesign is in order.

Don't get me wrong I L O V E my GHL Doser. 2.1 and I will be getting the new MAXI when it comes out. But it seems like GHL's testing equipment just doesn't live up to the standards set by the rest of there stuff.
