Yes you can treat right away and suggested- dose at 80% as a safety measure for your concern
Any improvement after water dip with breathing and eating ?
He still seems to be breathing heavily but has been slightly more active as far as swimming...at least right after the dip and during the wc. Doesn't seem to be eating.

So I should follow 80% of recommended dose, per API...but not the other dose after 48 hrs. Wait 8 days. Yes?

I'm also wondering if it would make sense to switch to prazi for the second dose in 8 days...I can pick some up next week. GC was all I had access to this weekend.

API ??
PraziPro is by Hikari
As for dosage : One initial dose for an 8 day period
On Day 9 - water change
One more Dosage for 8 day coverage and done. Then add carbon back in if desired

I stated earlier I only have access to general cure at the moment so that's what I'm using. I'm going to get some prazipro next week and will probably follow up the second dose using that. Being a newer tank with very limited corals and inverts I'm not too worried about it. That was why I was just trying to clarify proper usage. I dosed 80% recommended. About 2 3/4 packs. Says use i pack per 10g. Thanks

I understand. Thats why I detailed it as it Can be confusing to some. I will be honest- first time I used the product, I dosed Every day for 8 days and wondered why tank was so cloudy. This is way back, so there was no you tube or R2R to clarify.

Any idea why the filefish would be coming up to the surface and spitting water? I'm in day 3 of general cure treatment for flukes...I went low with the dosage (80% ish) and added what I guessed to be the remaining 10% just a little while ago. Still haven't seen him eat anything although his swimming seems to be much more active today...

Still seems to be breathing fast...
It is. has to be flukes or velvet .
Any changes since last time and any spots or other unusual that has shown up?
Eating ?

hmmm- favoring water surface often a sign of velvet

No spots at all... he only went to the surface briefly, spending 90% of his time near a cave at the bottom. I haven't noticed any eating but it did look like he might have been trying to brush up against some rocks earlier. I've had him for close to 4 months now with nothing new added to the tank.

The more I look into it, I'm pretty sure you're right about velvet. No spots but he was swimming into the current and sad to day but obvious at this point he isn't going to make it. Swimming very erratic and laying on his side. I'm pulling the clown out first thing tomorrow and going into a qt tank to treat for velvet. She's fine and acting normal but I'm not taking any chances. Valuable lessons learned here.
