Hey Folks,
Hope you are all well and staying safe.
I wanted to provide a little update on what has been a bit of an experiment for me.
I started this tank roughly 4 months ago
(I have been in the hobby for the last 20 years, I wouldn’t recommend this method as it was fairly difficult)
But wanted my anemones I’ve loved to survive and placed about 20 of them into this tank at the 3 week mark. Things were naturally unstable at first. I dealt with the worst case of Dino’s I had ever seen, it appeared they were growing out of the anemones themselves. I took natural measures and cleared them up in a few weeks, but they nearly wiped out my nems.
first time using RO/DI in my life - I was previously blessed with good well water.
things have gone well - I have some before and after photos, nems are growing like crazy. I started the large tank with dry rock and the small tank with live rock. These are more or less holding tanks until I throw a 375 into my new place next year.
anyway, enjoy - and if you have any questions ask away
The anemone population has at least doubled in the last 2 months.
the first picture was a couple months ago when they were added.
The second and third are now, they aren’t great quality but they show the quantity.
there is a chain link moray, a massive black Volitan, a bristletooth, and several assorted damsels. I think one has been eaten. Oh there’s also the biggest starfish I’ve ever seen. Attached is a pic of him and some of the others.
the last photo is my small tank, it was started at the same time - the photo was taken about a month ago as the lights are now off. I never should have put any anemones in this small tank. That was a mistake
If anyone has any questions on bubble tips, I have been successfully breeding them (splits + pores) for roughly the last 10 yrs
