Hello, I have a decent knowledge of reefs for a beginner (my dad got me into it) and I wanted to get some help on picking out my equipment; Tank, Stand, Stump, etc. and so I came here for help. Money is not an issue but is better if kept low and affordable. I'm looking to put both LPS and SPS in the tank as well. I'm only looking for rectangular tanks, not any square tanks. All advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to R2R!

One of the tanks at the low end of your range that most people really like the dimensions of is a 40 breeder. It's elongated and slightly shallower than a tank that size would normally be. It results in a tank that looks a lot bigger than the volume it holds and it has quite a bit of space to put corals. The benefit of having the shallower tank is you don't need super power lights. The other nice thing is you can get them for $40 when Petco and Petsmart are doing their $1/gallon sales. Then you can spend your money on other things, like lights, pumps, etc.

The other option, if you're looking for a plug-and-play system is to check out SCA's packages. I have their 50g cube which I bought on Amazon. It was $800 shipped to my door. That included: starfire tank, return pump, skimmer, glass sump, and plumbing. A total steal in my opinion. They make tanks in other sizes too, definitely worth checking out.

what does SCA stand for?

SC Aquariums. Don’t know what the SC stands for.

Used aquariums are always great as well. Can always check craigslist or here or your local reef forum to find deals.
