Hey all!!
so I have a 40 gallon breeder with frags galore and maybe 10 lbs of live rock. (its already cycled etc)
I have a pictus blenny and plan on buying a yellow coris wrasse when I get around to it.
What else should I put in there? Have any fun ideas?
its a frag tank for lps and softies so I want to add more fish.
(Im not one for duplicates so I already have clowns, 6 line wrasse, orchid dottyback, mystery wrasse in other tanks).

Flasher or fairy wrasses. Do you have a sandbed? The yellow "coris" wrasse would need it. I am a fan of bangaii cardinals. +1 for the royal garamma. Also firefish are nice. Chromis. There are lot's of good fish for that size tank.

Yea, I run bare bottom but will have a little thing of sand for him.
My flasher wrasse just died. Not sure why but the other fish are fine. He started hiding when I bought the new gyre and wouldnt come out. Found him last night :(

Bummer. Well guess it's time for a replacement to fill that hole in your heart .

exactly what Im thinking haha
I had planned on rehoming him to get a different wrasse anyway. Just sucks he died before.

What about anthias? theyre really pretty :)
just have to confirm that theyre safe with wrasses and reef safe

Yeah anthis are fine, but they swim a lot and have a high metabolism. Most folks say they need to be fed 3-4x a day.

Yea I read that too....that seems like too much for me to manage lol
has anyone ordered from live aquaria? Most of the people that normally go to my LFS are ordering fish online. I usually have the LFS quarentine and treat them-I dont have one at my apartment.

Live aquaria is very reputable, but if your LFS is willing to QT and treat fish they order in for you then I would certainly keep giving them your business. That is customer service right there.

lol I know....but no guarantee after bought and the price is usually double what LA is. Im working on getting them to price match or like within $20. QT definitely worth that.

Anthias are great fish, but kinda finicky in my experience. Maybe try a few ornate leopard wrasses. Especially if your lfs qts and gets them eating.

Oh, Im already getting a coris wrasse. Im a firm believer in 1 wrasse per tank LOL I have small (ish) tanks. I love leopards, I just really want that coris :)
Theres so many options!

I assume you don't actually want a "coris" wrasse, the one I assume you are referring to often gets called a "coris" but it is not. Coris get pretty big and will tear apart your rockwork and eat all your inverts. They yellow wrasse sometimes called canary or "coris" I assume you want is Halichoeres Chrysus.

yep, Halichoeres chrysus. I thought thats "yellow coris wrasse". could be wrong lol

A lot of people call it a "coris" but it actually is not. If you look up the coris family of wrasses they are larger and move rocks around, eat inverts, etc. I only know because I am planning on adding the yellow wrasse to my 40. When I started researching I found conflicting info until I started using the latin name.
