40 breeder icecap gyre 1k's placement

Hello R2R members, I am having a problem with the positioning of my 2 icecap gyre 1k's in my drilled 40 breeder. How do you recommend placing them? One vertically and one horizontally? Both horizontally? Please help

I've got 1 in my 40 breeder horizontal on the right side. Probably 5" from the surface.

Do you have it aimed up at the surface? What setting and power do you run it at?

I have 1 end hit the top of my rocks and the other end is pointed towards to surface. Its running on the random mode at 80%. I do have sps heavily stocked in my tank. Ill take a picture of it when I get home so you get the idea
