40 breeder limited space...

Ok so I have a sumpless 40b with the large CPR hob refugium. The thing is huge but so far I love it. I have no filtration and want to add something small to skim the surface and catch a little extra debris. I was looking at the Rio hob nano filter/skimmer and like that it is a dual function. If I were to get that and run with a poly pad would chaeto still survive in my refugium? Would I benefit at all with the small upgrade?

Surface skimming is very important imo, so I say go for it. If your worried about stripping too much nutrients you could always feed a tiny bit heavier

For the people who use those kind of filters, that looks great.

You can put a heater in it. You can use a wide range of media types. You can also adjust flow.
