40 breeder plywood stand

So as the title states does anyone have any tips or any info on building a nice stand for a 40 breeder out of plywood?

I've build this stand myself. The video is very descriptive and the description has all the cuts you need. All you have to do is skirt it

Use 3/4” birch plywood with glue and pocket screws using a Kreg jig. That said, when I attempted to build one, I had Home Depot cut it for me. Bringing the pieces home, it was apparent that their saw was severely out of square. :mad: I ended up building a 2x4 stand and salvaged the 3/4” ply for the top, interior floor and the door. Knowing what I know now, I would have used an edge guide and cut the wood myself... lesson learned.

Thanks crabs! Built a 2x4 stand for a 55 gallon was just looking at building something diffrent. But i guess if its broke dont fix it haha

Love it! I think im just going to build a floating canopy though... Havnt quite decided

The canopy is removable.. It would be a major pain to move around otherwise. If this tank were rimless than definitely a floating canopy would have been the design but I wanted to cover up the trim and keep my fish INSIDE the tank.. LOL I've lost enough jumper over the years.

Yea haha what did you use for wood oak?

1/2" oak plywood from Lowes and some 3/4 trim using 1x,2x, and 3x3/4" pre cut hardwood strips from Lowes also.. the 1" plywood skeleton pieces I got from a cabinet shop I used to work for. Had them cut on their CNC panel saw, but the A grade 3/4" birch plywood is more than strong enough once its skinned out. Kreg pocket screw it from the outside and no metal fasteners on the interior to rust out over time.

All in all I prolly got $300 in it with stain and finish. I still haven't quite decided on doors or one large removable panel for it yet.. I'm leaning toward the latter, hinges rust.
