Thinking about slowly restarting the hobby with a 40 breeder, but I need some stand recommendations. I'm planning on using the aquatic life T5 hybrid system with the legs sold here (3rd item on the right side bar)

Building my own is out of the question since I don't have power tools/shop space and I am unable to drill into the wall currently. Are there any pre-built stands that are decent that you would recommend? Thanks!

It depends on what you want or deem decent. These are the particle board types that are laminated or painted to protect from moisture, but over time they will look bad and show water damage. With shipping or through a store expect to pay about 300.

if you're willing to spend more planet aquariums has a lot to choose from. I think the Elegance is their lowest priced stand at 500.

You might be able to make something out of 8020, I ordered a stand of extruded aluminum for my 24x24x12 frag tank and it was $120 shipped from tnutz. Assembled with a hex wrench, pieces come cut to size.

This might work...........it's made of birch........also through Planet

Appreciate the suggestions, I'll look into these

Did you piece together the order or did you buy a package that match your dimensions?

Easiest thing would be to go to your fish store and tell them you need a stand for a 40 breeder.

Aqueon (used to be all-glass) would even be available from Petco for relatively cheap. They are built from solid 1x4s.

Not even a cordless drill (battery)? Every house should have one. If you do I would say build your own out of 2 x 4's and have the local box store (Lowe's or HD) cut the lumber for you. Would be drop dead easy to make. Of course you would want to skin it which would require a bit more work but again can buy pre-cut lumber easy enough or leave it open and just paint / stain it.

Otherwise as others suggested - you will need tank measurements and go from there. LFS would be best bet.

How did you get 2 stands out of it? You just took the stand and not connect the top and bottom half of it?

yeah you just don't connect all of the outside pieces they give you. there's a picture sample on the extra pictures. there's also a ton of videos on youtube about those stands, they're really popular with freshwater i guess. it's not the prettiest stand in the world, but idk it doesn't bother me at all. i just have that tank in my gym area. i mean for $50 hard to complain. plus you get a bonus metal shelf stand thingy to put stuff on, which i found was quite useful with aquarium stuff

Sorry, I don’t come on reef2reef often. I contacted a local 8020 distributor to design a stand for my 90 gal cube. I felt the cost was worth it for the assurance from them, plus if it goes wrong they might have some liability. For my frag tank since it is a lower volume and therefore weighs only about 200 lbs I just decided to scale down my cube frame. My cube has 1.5” legs and base with leveling feet, then the top is 1.5”x3” cross bars with 1.5” connections. So for the frag tank I did the same but with 1” and 1”x2” pieces, it was $125 shipped for a 24”x24” stand. Here are some pics of the cube’s stand, if you want to go this route I bet you could find a parts list for someone that’s done it for a 40b. Also I have added corner gussets for my own piece of mind, however, the engineer said that the stealth connections would be more than capable of holding it all together.

I'm a fan of the aqueon pine stand. Petco has the "Brooklyn" something something stands. They work, though I always end up putting them together backwards the first time

Solid wood stands any LFS should be able to order for around $300.

I wouldnt use one of those easy snap together stamped steel storage racks if i were you....

Even my particle board stand wobbles too much for comfort.

That $65 metal stand from petco looks waaaaay better than the storage rack anyways. Not to mention actually rated for the weight of 500+lbs :)
