Calling all sump experts to give me their opinions on my diy sump for my 90g tank. Tank is a dual corner overflow with 1" drains to (2) 3" socks. Next to the socks is a small area for my skimmer outlet since I will be running an external recirculating skimmer. That section flows under a baffle and over to a 12" tall section housing extra live rock, Chemipure, or whatever else I want to put in there down the road. It then flows through a vertical baffle to the frag section. Both walls of this section will be using a black glass that I have to block all light to the other sections. It will then flow over a 10" baffle to the return section. No refugium as I will be running a cheato reactor.
Reason for the vertical baffle is that I want to water to flow from top to bottom through the rock & frag sections to minimize dead zones. Both of those sections will have a nano powerhead to give better circulation and minimize detritus. I will most likely add egg crate to the inlet and exit of the frag section to keep any large critters that might end up in there. I am sacrificing visibility and access to return pump section with the setup but I am fine with that.
Let me know what you think, any improvements/suggestions are appreciated, what you like or don't like. Thanks Everyone!
