Bought a Vortech to open up the tank .

I was constantly fraging the monti caps on each side to keep them from encrusting on the powerheads , so I bit the bullet and put in the vortech to make room for growth .

one thing didnt change... the scarlet shrimp lol

Thanks everyone.........now I can add more monti cap
All kidding aside though , the reason it is a monti cap only tank is because it started as a fish only so I could have butterfly fish ( my other three tanks are reefs ) I just couldn't stand not having live coral in the tank after about two months and monti cap is the ONLY coral my True Perc Butterfly won't eat and destroy .

Awesome, awesome, awesome aquarium!!!

I love the simplicity of the tank - really well done. One of the best I've seen on R2R, seriously! :xd:

Looks like you pulled a chunk of the natural reef out and tossed it in your tank, many people can take a BIG lesson from this tank - you don't gotta catch 'em all to have an amazing reef!

Great fish selection as well, I love your C. potteri :D

Is the last MJ in on the back-wall for a H.O.B. skimmer?

Thanks for the compliments Stun , the MJ mod on the back wall is for flow through out the Tonga live rock structure . I know it doesn't seem like there is alot of tonga branch rock in there , but there is. The hole structure is covered and now held together with the monti cap over grown on it , there are endless tunnels within that the fish swim in and out of still . It's setup old school for sure , no sump , no reactors ect ect . just live rock , powerheads , skimmer , UV and a HOB filter that is used to run carbon and floss . I don't dose for the caps , just a weekly four gallon water change to keep all params in check . Don't get me wrong , I like all the new high tech gizmos on the market , but old school is all I know and I'm an old reefer !

Here is an old photo , when the structure started . It's all still there some where . LOL
