40 breeders, can they be drilled?

I have not but I know many people who have. As long as the side you are drilling is not tempered, you should be fine.

Yeah I'd be drilling the end of it. I recently took over a tank from a local reefer who uh.... committed himself to the hereafter. I had a spare 40br so I figure since I now have one mostly set up with a few critters I'd drill my spare and transfer everything and set it up proper.

plumbers putty, slow flow water, and masking tape. use a drill with an adjustable setting and set it to the lowest setting. that way if it catches it just stops instead of cracking your tank. do this, youll be fine. but realize, your not drilling a hole, your more grinding the glass away with the diamond bit. so it can take a while. don't be afraid to stop and take a break if you start to get shakey. took me about 10 minutes per hole. did 9 holes in 3 tanks with a 7 dollar ebay bit. I don't suggest pushing your luck to 9 holes on the same bit, but it worked for me.

I always drill the back panel. I use 1 inch plywood as a topper for all my stands so drilling the back is easier.
