New to reefing and here so i thought i'd send a few pictures out here and get some tips and feed back. I'm building a 40 gal breeder AIO with a display of about 32 Gals. or (14.5 h x 17.25 w x 30 l ). These pictures are of the fist attempt, i have since then removed the acylic. I'm changing it out from 1/8 to 1/4 inch, i was worried it might crack when i was opening or closing the ball valve.

Now to the ball valve. As you can see i have Tee'd it into the return pump. My plan is to run run a Marina HOB refugium off the back and fill it straight from the return. I'm buying the large which is about a half gal. I haven't found any information on refugium sizes to tank sizes, so if any of you can help with that it would be appreciated. If you have suggestions or coomments i'll be checking in every once and a while, still waiting for parts to come in. Thanks.

Welcome to R2R! I’m working on a new 40 breeder and considered doing the all in one kit. Very cool, be sure to start a build thread in the members tanks section of the forum.

Welcome to reef2reef !!!
Nice tank, what are your plans?

Well right now I have the new acrylic on its way, should be here Tues.

Right now I have:
Natures ocean dry rock
Marina HOB Refugium breeder box
LiquaGen5 RO/DI system
Innovative Marine Custom Caddy (Media rack)
RedSea Sea salt
And some filter items on their way as I type. lol
Still not sure what lighting I want. I'm still doing research. If anyone has ideas I'm open to hearing them.

As far as fish and coral go, I've looked around and have found a few that should fit in nicely. My main concern is for the fish so what fish, how many and size will be dictated by the bioload. Right now I'm just waiting for the acrylic so I can CNC the intake and return holes. I"ve been told reefing requires patience, I'm learning that. lol I'll post some more pictures as I get further along. It may take me time, I still have to write the programs for the intake and return holes.

Nice tank. I'll try and post a price list and some more pictures just as soon as the parts come in and I get them on.

Awesome DIY AIO! One bit of advice in case you don't know... leave some space (maybe 1/8th of an inch) on each side of the acrylic overflow piece. You don't wan it to fit snuggly with glass on both sides because the pressure can crack the aquarium glass wall. You can fill in the space with silicone to seal it.

Where were you 3 weeks ago? lol look closely at the point where the acrylic and glass meet at the top. Lol Lesson learned new tank acquired. I'm starting fresh and planning on CNC'ing the overflow a little higher up so the water level is just under the rim this time. Just wrote the code for it last night and the new acrylic should be here Tues. (fingers crossed) lol Thanks.

Great looking build so far and I will be watching with interest. My next build will most likely be in the 40 gallon range. Keep the pictures and updates rolling!
