Ok yall so I have 2, 40 gal fresh water tanks and I'm going to condense them down into one. I'm going to take one and turn it into a reef tank so how much rock should I use in a 40 and what's a good filter system I can use that is not a sump

20-40 pounds of life sand depending on how deep you want your sand sand bed. I prefer aragonite. A finer grade vs coral crushed would help with containing good bacteria. I would order dry live rock from bulk reef supply @bulkreefsupply it's 100% dry live rock I believe from Fiji. It's already been acid washed and cleaned and all you need to do is wash it with water to clean the debris and fur and you'll be set.
