Okay so I'm planning on tearing down my tank to redo it since it has been giving me so many issues a buddy of mine is giving me a 40 gallon reptile tank so that I can use it to keep my fish until the cycle is over on my tank my question is will the 40 gallon reptile tank serve its purpose as a fish tank or should I buy a 40-gallon breeder

Usually reptile specific tanks will say not for aquarium use on them, or on the original packaging.

I have also read that once any tank has been used for reptiles it should never again be used for fish. $1/gallon sale is going on right now anyway.

As long as they're cleaned out really good with bleach, it's not a problem. :)

Depends what was in it. If there was lizards in it I would not use it. The nails of the lizards would have messed the silicon up. Also, the heat from the lamps will weaken the silicon.
