This the progress of a very cheap tank with the goal of pushing limits with soft tap water and cheap equipment that went through a lot because of my laziness and negligence. (And maybe tap water), it has no sump and algae is allowed to grow on the 3 tank glasses. After running this set up I feel like LPS and Softies are the limit. When reaching SPS territory it starts to get unstable, they grow well for a month or two and they crash, which could be my problem, maybe I will try keeping SPS one last time and see how it goes for the next year.
In terms of other inverts, cucumbers are definitely a no. Maybe there's something in the tap water that causes it to die overnight. Nems are fine but I have removed it because I cant seem to find a good place for me.
Setup:
Waterbox 40.2 AIO
Red devil 150 skimmer
Sanrise Led
Coral box qp9
Filtration:
Sponge
V
Activated Charcoal
V
2 maxspect nano tech block

10 March 2019, 2months after initial setup with corals from my previous tank which would be taken out later on:

November 2019, it recovered from a crash and I added 2 sps frags in hopes that I could keep them, the xenias were not doing well but everything else is growing well including the nem behind the rock which grew from the size of a quarter to 2 inches a month:

Feb 2020, the tank seems to have stabilized, this is the top down view of the sps frags which are showing growth and encrusting onto the rock, you may have noticed the xenias have recovered in the background the anemone was later moved due to obvious reasons:

August 2020, Another crash from alk swing and summer heat between july and april, the acans and sps did not do well, only the acans managed to sort of recover. By this time I should already give up sps but I just can't hold off the itch so I plan to only keep the more tolerable ones so far they don't seem to have stress respond and the aquarium is kept at 28C, not sure if I want to try dosing again as everytime I dose it crashes, xenia is still recovering from the crash:

A fun image of the urchin carrying two goniopora frags back when dino was rampant, the goniopora frags have since encrusted fully on the frag plug:
