Hello all. I have just completed my 40 gallon breeder sump using 1/4" glass baffles. There are 6 baffles total with the largest space being 9". I'm curious what everyone thinks about taking the rim off this tank. I'm pretty certain with the amount of glass I have siliconed inside of this tank, it will be just fine but figured i'd ask the community first.

Thanks

Should be fine if you used glass baffles and good silicone.

That plus low water level I wouldn't worry at all

I also think you will be fine. not that I am an expert. I am thinking of doing the same but for a DT with just a center glass brace or one on each side of the tank. so wat you have you "should" be golden. just make sure the glass in not bowing the tank out.

With my 40B sump the trim does a nice job of containing salt creep and splash. So although I agree you'd be fine structurally there are other benefits to having the trim. I even added a little extra taller walls (acrylic glued to the trim) around the area where the drains enter.
