40 gallon breeder or 33 gallon long?

If those two tanks are the choices... what would you choose? I'm hoping to keep pygmy angels (I have a pair of bicolors), a starki and Azure Damsel, perhaps a few other small "swimming" fish.

yeah NP. More water = more dilution = more stuff

a tank that big without a sump would be a nightmare.

width/depth > height. Most fish dont swim vertically too much

neither size is really for good for a pair of bicolor angelfish, probably a 75 gallon minimum at least would be best for a pair. Always go for the larger tank size as slug said though, no reason to go smaller

Personally I have had a system with both. I enjoyed the 33 long penninsula style but couldn't put much in for rockscape without looking too cluttered however it allowed plenty of longer runs for the fish to swim. The 40 breeder is nicer for an crescent arch style layout. But really it is up to setup of the tank (standard vs penninsula) that will determine which is "better". There really is no wrong answer

I would definitely go with the 40 just because of the extra front to back space. I think a wider tank adds some depth to the aquascape and has a better eye appeal
