Could anyone make any suggestions on how much flower they would recommend for a 40 gallon breeder? I keep seeing different things and this is going to be my first Saltwater tank. Not sure if I should go for 1 or 2 and how much total flow you'd suggest whether that be one or two.

I use one jeboaw slw30 in my 40b but it's way over kill. I leave it on the slowest speed. An slw20 would probably be pretty perfect. Or 2 10s or 20s for more options. Depends how you want the flow.

What do you plan on keeping in the tank for corals? SPS? LPS? etc...
Looking at start as FOWL. Moving to add LPS, soft corals, and Anemones but probably sticking with softies mainly. I don't plan on having any SPS's.

should def look at ones that you can adjust the flow though they are higher priced. I have a 32 gallon bio cube with a MP10 that I really like. It's turned way down- but i like that I can adjust it to how my aquascape grows and when I finally decide to go bigger- it can go with it.

I would always suggest 2 powerheads over 1, so you can play with the flow pattern.

About 1000 gph total would be a decent starting point.

Which brand and style kind of depend on features, reliability, budget, etc.

i use 2 nero 3’s in mine. they run at about 60% each

I currently run two of the slw30 units. Good flow with enough wiggle room to ramp up or down. Both at about 40% right now.
