Alright, petco sale hit me, I got a 55 and already have an empty 40 breeder, I am going to drill the 40 breeder, but am starting to question my thoughts on the overflow, I don't want it to take hardly any real estate from the display. So I am hoping to commission you experts for help??

I would love to have the ghost design like the new reef savvy tanks (way out of my budget for those tanks), any ideas on how to make it a quiet nice looking small overflow?

I am getting a Jebao 12000 and going to use that as the return and hopefully most of the water movement, I also will have a wp-25 or wp-40 to help supplement the water movement, it will be a bare bottom with chalices and other corals growing directly on the glass.

I plan on having 2 1/2 or 3/4" return holes in the middle of the 40 breeder, and the return being at the top middle.

As for stock list, I plan on a blenny or goby, angler and a wrasse. Not too worried about fish though so if that doesn't work out I am okay with it. Main thing this tank will have is coral.

Bottom of the tank I want to try to plan out chalices that look good together with favites. Then at the top I plan on some acros and milli's and in the middle some zoa's for the wife and hopefullly some unique LPS.

Let me know what you think.

Build it yourself, I built my own "ghost overflow" and it works flawlessly. Just need a little acrylic and weld-on adhesive and a few bulkheads. I had my pieces cut on a cnc router but you could do it on a table saw just as easy.

That is awesome, where did you have it CNC'd? Can you explain the u connectors inside the back, or maybe your whole thought/design?

The design is basically what was developed by BeanAnimal on RC.

BeanAnimal's Bar and Grill - Silent and Fail-Safe Overflow System

The tall pipe is a safety the right pipe is the extra water catch and the middle pipe is a full syphon, thats what makes it completely silent. I dont have anything on the middle pipe anymore, its just the bulkhead. You put a ball valve on the full syphon pipe so you can adjust it to the flow.

Do your research on the beananimal overflow, it's brilliant.

I work in an industry that uses cnc routers so I have access to a guy who has one. I would look for a sign shop in town that makes large signs. They guy who's I used makes ADA signage. If I can help with anything let me know, I'll do my best.

the overflow was cnc cut, there are two inlets, one on each side, outlet in the center, I have a squid hooked up under the tank that switches to flow without a lot of unpleasantness in the tank

That is very well done, would you mind taking some pictures of the sump and the plumbing so I can make my decision, also where did you get it machined? What are those types of companies called?

one of the members In my club has a business, think its called do it yourself acrylics , he cut the pieces for me, I just had to assemble using weld on , and silicone it in, I'll take some pictures of the sump for you tomorrow, I built the stand for the forty, and to utilize all the bottom space, built a 1/4" glass rimless sump, the filter sox holder you'll see in the pictures will slide across the glass lip via acrylic on both sides of the glass, the sump fills the stand except for 6" on one side, there I am running the old octopus dnw110 skimmer, recirculating, and a TLF GFO reactor, the whole set up sits flush to the wall, and very quiet. Its powered by a mag 7, all I really keep in that tank are mushrooms and yumas, and a breeding pair of Banggais.

That is awesome, can you take some pics of the front of it so I can see the slits or how that's done.

Only thing I would be afraid of is when u move it or the silicone getting weak or something and that back falling off and then thier goes all that water ....just looking a worse case scenario I guess ...
