I am looking to purchase a 40 gallon acrylic aquarium (36L x 15w x 16h). If I purchase a ATI 36" 4x24 or Tek 6x36, will the light be too intense if I place the fixture directly over the aquarium? I am only stocking LPS and chalice's.

I will try and hang the fixture.

I would go with the 6 bulb more bulb combos and such that's what I have over my 40breeder for the acan grow out I also have chalices and zoas and palys in there as well all are doing great

Reef Up, thanks for the response. How many inches is your light fixture from the water surface? Cab you PM me pictures of your setup?

Hey sorry for the late response, I'd say it's at least 7-8" off the water i'll grab ya a pic tomorrow !

i have a 24 inch over my 40 breeder, and its perfect. omnly about 6 inches off the tank. Covers it all nicely

Zoacoral, thanks to your response. So you are using the ATI 4x24 on your 40 gal breeder? What kind of corals do you have and what types of bulbs are you using?

Any chance you can send me pics of your setup?
