Okay so this is what I have come up with for an AIO system. The top picture is an ariel view of the tank itself and the added AIO.

The second picture is a side view of how the system would look and where things would go. The heater and nano skimmer would be in the same compartment.

I wasn’t sure how large a refugium could be so I tried to give it a bit more room and have a small LED light put above it. Is there anything else I’m missing?

I haven’t figured out how much acrylic I would need but would 24”x 48” be enough you think? If anyone has photos of their builds I would love to see them cuz I haven’t seen anything like mine even after looking though many images on google for references.

I like the idea, but maybe you could cut down the width of the filter box area? You are losing some good real estate with that.

As an example, my Fusion 20 back part is only 4 inches wide. Now I will admit that is super narrow and makes protein skimmer findings troublesome. But maybe you could do 10 inches?

If I am reading it wrong my apologies!
Also love the Acrylic idea!!

Are you talking about the area where I wrote media that is 3" or do you mean the entire AIO that is 16"?

Good idea but some of the dimensions look really tight. Will a protein skimmer fit in a 3" x 3.5" area? Also I would be concerned on the ease of cleaning out the chambers. Tight squeeze but if everything fits go for it.

Maybe mock up the full scale chamber in cardboard or similar material before buying and cutting the acrylic.
