Hey everyone, if anyone feels like talkin fish.. I would love some recommendations for stocking my new tank! I have a list but soon will be pulling the trigger on a few fish, if you think anything else should be added please let me know, no angels as of now, wondering if this leaves room for more fish down the line or I should be adding anything else first.

Glass tank- 72"X36"X36" bare bottom
What I currently have spread between 4 tanks:

X2 black O-clowns
X1 valentini Puffer
X1- Sailfin tang

X1- Dwarf lionfish (he will most likely stay in the refugium, sump is 120G)

X1- aiptasia eating filefish
X1- bristle tooth tomini tang
X1- blotched anthias
X1- blue throat trigger

X2 orange O-clowns
X1- sapphire damsel
X1- midas blenny
X2- bangaii cardinals
X2- biota mandarin dragonets
x1- fathead sunburst anthias
X1- redfin wrasse
x1- bluehead fairy wrasse
X1- purple tang
X1- blue hippo tang

What I want to add to the 400 first-

X3 biota yellow tangs
X5 sapphire damsels
X5 royal grammas
X1 flame hawk fish

Future down the line- year from now
Zebra eel

Yikes, that 36 fish

What about a fox face? They’re very shy at first but once they warm up they get a little more personable. Mine has been a model citizen and hangs with my tomini tang all the time

Good idea! I’ve always thought they were cool, does yours do pretty good @ algae control? I’ve heard they will get bubble algae too..

Knock on wood, haven’t dealt with bubble algae. But it does pick the rocks, and I must say the rocks are clean between the foxface, tang, and blenny!

Good deal, ya Blenny is another cool fish, I love the Midas but he’s not very utilitarian. That’s why I had to get the 400 so I can keep ‘em all lol

Ya he’s my big gamble fish, so far pretty timid though, I’ve had him in a 40b for 6 weeks now and he’s been cool. One of my favorite fish to watch swim. I’ve been debating if it would cause more trouble trying to pair him with a F

Its not completely coral safe. Fish safe is a different story. My recommendation-Give it away. I saw a blue throat trigger destroy a homewrecker acropora.

It’s great when you can have cool fish that also put in work, good luck with the rest of your stocking! Hopefully we can all see cool updates with your tank soon

The list seems ok. I have 39 fish in my 400g and if you plan on soft coral, rethink on foxface which are sneaky and will nibble little by little and eat zoas

Dang, ya that’s why I don’t have any angels on the list, if tried twice and always caught them nibbling. I really like gorgonians so maybe the Fox won’t be worth it.. Do you keep a fair amount of larger fish, show fish? I know the sailfin, hippo, and blue throat will be pretty big in a few years

Foxface are reef safe. They only eat corals if you under feed

Literally every foxface is classified Reef Safe caution for a reason. I watched these guys for 3 decades take down softies. The only two ive ever owned befor I had it with them both were caught eating my zoas and acans like candy

I have to sacrifice what I keep due to my Majestic angel, I'd get rid of it but man is it such a nice looking and healthy fish. So for now it's softies(no zoas, he LOVES those) and and couple sps.

Goodness, I haven’t added any SPS but there’s a few chalices and softies in his tank now, using them as “test subjects” before he goes in the big tank lol
