Hey all! Assuming nothing funky happens, I jusy scored the deal of a lifetime on a 400 gallon tank. I know some fish that I want (Emperor Angelfish and a Clown Tang), but outside of that I'm pretty open to any ideas. What fish would you stock it with/ what fish do you think I should look into? For reference, I do already have a 180g and 29g, so I do have some experience with saltwater.

dussumieri tang or just any big naso or acanthurus like vampire or orange shoulder

I think you should just give me that tank and focus on your 2 other reefs. The wife’s agrees too!

all joking aside- not really joking tho. What are the dems of the tank? Is it tall but not long?

I would add another angel a cpl dwarf angels a few tangs and a big wrasse.
Oh and don’t forget the puffer.

just think of all the fish you like but can’t have in the reef and start there. :)

I would look at utilitarian fish first, the ones that have jobs to do.

Copperband (aiptasia eaters)
foxface (bubble/nusiance algae)
Tangs (bristle tooth type 1st)

Then start looking at the ones you want! 400 gallons you have lots of options

It's 8' x 30.5 x 31. Pretty much the perfect size IMO. I'm definitely going to load up on fish I can't have in my other tanks!

I'm planning on a Magnificent Foxface, because I like the coloration much better than the others. Also hoping to avoid pests through my quarantine process. Learned a lot of lessons along the way.

Nice! Do you have the tank or is it being built. I have thought of an 8’x30x ? For years. Would love to see a pic. 30” is the max I would go unless I got one heck of a deal (like almost free.lol )

anyway post a tank pic when you have time!

Triggers (blue jaw pairs, pinktail, clown).

I just got it yesterday. I'm going to make a build thread here in a bit, so there will be photos along the way!

i agree pair of triggers. I have a pair of blue jaws and pair of nigers in a 300 and they are fun to watch. also have a clown trigger in there, hes the tank bully.

Definitely a large angel I have an emperor and a queen going into my 360. Also a large puffer is a must! I have a porc puffer and he’s literally like having a dog you won’t regret it lol!
