400g Build

Good call. I don't mean to insult but I have seen more than 1 acrylic disaster. As Pepcrylic said, there is a world of difference between Acrylic and Glass. However, making this large a tank out of glass is going to result in an enormously heavy tank. At the least get a few quotes to have this made out of acrylic. Off the cuff I would guess $5k-$10k or so.

Are you saying that this 400G build, in acrylic, would cost $5,000 to $10,000? Or in glass? Because mine is quoted, it's 150G, and would cost less than $500 for the glass.

Just to chime in, either way you go, you can do it. Gotta start somewhere! I actually have a thread here in the DIY forums of my 150G build that I'm starting. I love DIY projects, it's amazing would people can do. Since you have done DIY, would love for you or anyone else on here to check out mine and give me some advice. This helped me, I built a 3D model of mine. Helped me get a perspective. I used "Google Sketchup," if you're interested. Took me a little bit to figure it out but I watched their startup videos on YouTube and it helped me a lot. Maybe this can help guide you. Good luck, bro! Will be following along.

I am saying to have an acrylic 400G tank built would be $5k - $10k.
