Having kept numerous reef tanks i have decided that i would like the opportunity to keep some of the less reef friendly species such as angels and triggers. The following is my first pass on the fish i am hoping to stock. The tank will be heavily skimmed (large Royal Exclusiv) and will include regular water changes to manage water quality. Below is my wish list please hit me up with any advice or suggestions. I am new to this style of tank and keen to learn and consider all advice.

Emperor Angel
Blue Girdled Angel - P. navarchus
Blue Face Angel - P. xanthometopon
French Angel
Queen Angel
Passer Angel
Goldflake Angel
Scribbled Angel
Yellow Tang (considering multiple of these - up to five)
Powder Blue Tang
Naso Tang
Sailfin Tang
Achilles Tang
Orangeshoulder Tang
Niger Triggerfish
Blue Throat Triggerfish

Thanks for any advice you can share.

What? No Harlequin Tusk? (Lol.) Also, with that size tank, check out the discussion (Thread) about Porkfish. Best wishes!

What are the dimensions of the tank?

There are some really nice fishes in that list. You probably will have to choose between a couple or few of those angels. A couple get quite big, and a couple can be aggressive.

Achilles tangs are a special challenge.

The tank is 88 x 36 wide x 32 high.

I could take the French and Blue Face off the list.

Yes I understand the challenge with the Achilles Tang. I have been reading up on them.

I’d scrap the Holocanthus angels( passer, Queen, French), they get aggressive, but if you want one, either the Queen or French & introduce them last for your angels. Start with the Scribbled & Goldflake, just add either the majestic or blue face with the emperor. Tang wise,Achilles( they’re tricky, but you’re tank is big enough) naso, orange shouldered, Sailfin, then powder blue, yellows last(5 or so, but could still fight with each other, they’re just like that), add triggers last. Good luck

Thanks for the suggestions . I am still working through the stocking list but will take on board your thoughts. I am continuing to do a lot of reading but also keen to get input from different peoples experiences.

I have a full tank of angels and I pretty much followed the order you mentioned and everything went pretty well. Also add bigger fish later is usually a good rule of thumb.
