Hey all,

I’ve been wanting to replace my current powerheads with a gyre (the smaller one). It’s a 40g breeder, and a friend told me that I’d need to get 2 because there will only be 1 direction of flow. Is this true? If it is, could I put my hydor nano on the opposite side of the tank to get crashing flow?
Thanks

Yes you can do that

I would run them alternately instead of "into each other".

As another example upgrade, a pair of $78 Tunze 6045's would rock this tank pretty nicely on a set of simple timers to switch them every few hours like the tides rolling in and out.

I have 1 1k gyre on my 45 gal in the wall tank. You’ll only need 1. I run mine @ 50% on random mode and there is A LOT of flow. The one i have is Very loud! I’ve had it for 4-5 months, and i’ve had to take it apart 2x to clean it because it had stopped working. I am dealing with the circumstances for now because i like the flow. I may buy anithe for my 20 gallon coral QT. If it quieter, I can always swap them out.
