Hey everyone new to saltwater aquariums. I haven't set anything up yet, I'd like to get everything I completely need first. I currently have a 40 gallon (36" W x 18" D x 16" H) and a 10 gallon that I'll make into a sump. I do plan on having a reef tank eventually (I wouldn't mind some recommendations of some easy to care for beginners coral also)
I've been watching tons of videos and reading tons of stuff about 40 gallons but I decided I'd make a post to get some advice.
(I also plan of having basically all peaceful fish)
Here's an idea of the fish I'd like to keep:
-a pair of some sort of clownfish
-a goby/shrimp pair (recommend some types?)
-i also like jaw fish but would they be okay with the goby and shrimp since both like to burrow?
-i wanted to get some blue/green chromis, like 2 or 3, but i was reading that people who have had 3 have bullied each other and they end up with just one so I'm not sure about those anymore?
-i also like firefish
-pom pom crab (i know they're tiny so could i have more than one?)
-also are there any starfish i could have in my size tank that are easy to care for and peaceful?
-and CUC recommendations?
(Also if you have some suggestions of other fish and such that you think would be better feel free to share)
I spent a good bit of time reading and looking at protein skimmers and i found this one on sale

I'd be getting the psk 100 for $144.
The reviews seem pretty good. So i was wondering if anyones had experience with this protein skimmer and it would be okay for my tank size? Or if you have recommendations of a better one thats still affordable? (I'd like to stay at $170 or lower if possible, but I still would like a skimmer that does its job well)
Okay for lights I'd like to get some LEDs. If someone could suggest some nice and affordable ones that'd be great, I do want to keep corals. Im not sure what kind, but just some that are easy to care for and such.
My tank is not drilled, so I'll be using a hang on overflow box. What type or brand is a good one? And what kind of sump return pump would I need? Also some recommendations of good power heads and heater?
I'll be using 40 or 50 lbs of live rock and I'll most likely use live sand. About how many pounds of sand should I get? And is a refugium necessary?
And finally is there any other equipment I'll need besides what I've already listed?
