I am new to all of this. In a few weeks I am receiving a 40b. I plan on creating an in cabinet filter & heater. Still debating on where to put the skimmer. Any advice? I started out about a year ago having freshwater fish (and I plan to keep them) but I’ve been looking into saltwater and I’m very intrigued by it. The amount of work for the tank does not concern me as this is already an almost full time hobby. Like I said, any advice would be great!

See I was thinking about that too. Seems a lot more cleaned up and not chaotic.
I have officially decided to go with a sump. What do you guys think about the DIY sump kits? With just the dividers. I have a 10 and 20g tanks that I could use for them, just don’t know how well they are built and if they would last.

If you're a DiY kind of person just buy a cheap 20g petco tank and some acrylic and silicone from home depot.

Basic idea
