I have a flashlight that is calibrated to 420nm that I use to look at my corals at night, the fluorescents and colors seen under this light are amazing .are there any lights that have this wavelength??? I have reefbrites for sunrise and sunset but it's not the same

I run SBReef lights and each 55 LED fixture has 5 420 nm beads. Here's the layout:

420nm is rare. 395nm is quite common because it's used in DJ black lights (I have a pile of 50 watt 395nm LEDs). You have some sources of 440nm.

420nm is the wavelength of old school actinic T5 tubes. That might be your best route.

420 and 460nm is available in about every version of lighting

Already have ati 8 bulb,,only option would be to use these in the channel with 2 bulbs ,,but I dont think they would be good for growth and health

Confused what are you looking for? You were asking for just 420nm and these are about as close as anything out there is as they are 90% 410-430nm and now you come back with you don't think they would be good for growth...when they are almost exactly what you asked for and actinic blue is one of the reef bulbs that everyone used to use long ago it can definitely grow coral.

Looking to highlight corals at night after lights out..I presently use my reefbrites for 1 hr before lights on and 2 hrs after lights off..but the reefbrites dont give me the 420 that I'm looking for. Sent an email to an reef to see if they could build an led strip 420 only

What about the LED strip they already make its thought to be 420-460nm? But haven't seen exact #s on them. Reefbrite seems unwilling to share what they are specifically.

The 21LED reefbar pro might be your best bet- 2 year warranty & dimmable

As mentioned, you can custom make one with Orphek but I warn about putting too many 420nm diodes in it. They can be overbearing unless you only plan to use them alone and like an all purple-violet look.

Also keep in mind the violet LEDs are notorious for blackening the plastic covers, so don't look for them to last very long.
