44" sump in a 48" cabinet?

Should I get a 44" sump in a 48" cabinet?

My gut feeling tells me that is doable but it can get complicated. I would need to buy an additional cabinet for the electronics and doser containers? Someone else has gone through the same thing?

Depending on the cabinet. Is it a 2x4? Is it steel? Plywood? Premade? Custom?

I have a 2x4 diy stand and it can fit a 40 breeder which is 36 inch. I have a 90 gallon display that is 48 inch stand

So in my situation a 44 inch wont fit under due to the space the 2x4 are taking. If i do try, it will be difficult to place/remove.

You can put electronics in the cabinet but it would risk corroding due to saltwater splash/humidity. So i built another cabinet for electronics.

Oh wow, I love what you did with the external cabinet. And the fact that you had space to place chair between the aquarium cabinet and the cabinet with the controllers is amazing!

It was in my bedroom at my parents house at the time. I had my dosers on my dresser with the containers between my dresser and tank. Had I been a little more organized I probably could have made everything work inside the stand. What dosing elements do you use?

Nothing yet. Its a new build. But I am trying to make it "future" proof.

I switched to all for reef for dosing to reduce the amount of containers and it’s worked well. Red Sea all makes dosers and a cabinet mount for them as well. Assuming your sump isn’t taking up all the height and width underneath the stand, you should be able to fit everything underneath with some creative thinking. Issue try to google some of the modular cabinet ideas. They’re becoming pretty popular

I have a 7ft with a 6.5ft sump lengthwise, and i must say, i do regret not making a slightly smaller sump so i could hide all my dosing equipment, ATOs etc.

I wonder how much space to leave to make it comfortable for other equipment. At least 10 inches?

Just buy a 30-36" long sump. You'll still have room for the in-sump equipment, and plenty of wiggle room to add what you need under the tank.

Cool thanks! Yea if I get the 34" I will have 10-11 inches of space left and I can add an external ATO or something. That will probably work out.
