440 gallon system in a shed?

So think of moving my tank room so i have more space.

Tanks making the move are a

180g
2(30 gallon) tanks
40
100 gallon ish sump(its going to be stock tank so spit balling size atm)

Qt tank behind plastic door to stop aerosols.

Thinking 4’ t5 banks about 2’ off the surface.

Being in a shed offers space, and ease of floor support reinforcement.

But adds some difficulty with temperature, was thinking adding an interior wall with insulation. Using green house vents, fans and heaters to control. Thought about thermal mass heating for passive heat but takes up a lot of space.

Also since not a living space, a small generator can be used for emergencies.

Also allows larger mixing station this way so Can make more than the 20 gallons can at a time right now.

How deep would one bury a water line to prevent freezing in zone 4?

thoughts? Suggestions?

Before you go any further ask yourself if you want to spend the majority of your free time in a shed. If the answer is yes look into the problems you face. If the answer is no then don't bother.

Haha, I built a "She Shed" for my 14 year old daughter with the intent that when she either gets bored of it or moves away to college that it's going to get taken over for my reefing needs, with that all in mind, I made sure it the electrical was robust, reinforced the foundation, added extra insulation and an hvac. I plumbed for a drain in the foundation and a spot for an exhaust. Now all I have to do is wait!!!

Edit: As far as frost line, I lived in Wyoming and if im not mistaken our building code required to put water lines 42" down.

NJ seems to be in an area with a higher frost line, keep in mind you local building official will be able to provide the most accurate information based on your particular area.

Its really not that far from my house, its like maybe 30 feet from a door lol. And im in the other shed often as its where all my tools are space.

It's not about how far it is, it's about it being a shed and not your house. If it's just your filtration that might be okay, but if you are planning a display out there are you going to enjoy it?

Maybe pick up a cheap mini split. Insulate the walls and the mini split will do the heat in the winter and ac in the summer.

It's not about how far it is, it's about it being a shed and not your house. If it's just your filtration that might be okay, but if you are planning a display out there are you going to enjoy it?

Was going to keep a 12g nano in my home office. I dont really have visitors to show my tanks off too. If they are interested enough to look at them in the first place, they can go outside lol. I swear most comments are look its dory!
Me im fine it being in there, will simplify maintenance a lot.

Was my old work shed, had to empty to replace an aging roof. Has been empty since moved to a new shed.

It can definitely be done. Just know it comes with it's own set of challenges. Humidity and temp take some work, but aren't extremely difficult to manage, but it's going to be reflected in that monthly electricity bill!

Here’s our man shed-she cave. 12’x20’

Temperature controlled with a 12,000btu mini split with heat pump. Humidity kept around 45% with a dehumidifier rated for 4,500sq.ft. I dump between 1 and 1 1/2 gallons of water every day or so from the dehumidifier reservoir.
All plugs/components (lights, 10 interior plugs, 1 exterior plug, and 230v mini split) are dedicated circuits. All outlets are 20amp GFCI. 2x6 floor joists are 12” on center spacing with 3/4” decking.
