48" tall reef anyone????/

If you're looking for exemplary tall reef aquascapes, I don't know anyone who's done it better than Chingchai. His 1000gal SPS Tank is amazing. Here are a few pics (I'm pretty sure most all of these are before he moved it to his restaurant):

Never mind the unfinished crown molding or the crab trap I'm working with in the picture.
Like I said it is 33 inches tall, only 19.5 wide and 53 long. It was a custom tank that I got for cheap, the person that ordered it backed out on the seller. You will get to really do some cool things with your aquascape being that it's bigger in every way.

I used super glue and fiberglass rod to pin some of the rocks together. If I could do it over again I would definitely use the concrete stuff from aquaforest that I posted earlier.

I also use these grabbers all the time. I would suggest the needle nose type and the claw type. You will find uses for each.

Pay close attention to head restrictions when buying your return pump or pumps. I got one that should have been enough for my tank but it only does 5times the tank volume since it is pumping up that extra foot and has a few bends.

I have the Seneye PAR meter. At the top rock in my aquascape I have the PAR around 300 to 400. At the bottom it is still 100. If I wanted to raise that PAR at the top to 400 to 500 I would be around 100 to 200 at the bottom. I was there in the past but have been struggling with low nutrients lately so I lowered the lights power. What I am getting at is you will be surprised how even the lightning can be even when you get deeper. The reflection on the glass must be what is helping so much.
thank you so much for the advise. tank looking good

He MOVED that?!? ;Wideyed

I have a 40in and it is up off the floor. It was left in the house built in the wall when I bought the house, I kind of just fell into fishtsnking. I have collected a lot of tools to help clean and maintain it. I really love practicality getting in it to clean but can not reach the bottom. With scaping I luckily have a local fish store that makes their own live rocks so I have been able to slowly get very large rocks stacked up. It is a process. But really I feel worth it. I love my tank.

Go for it! It's a pain at times but to see large fish swimming up too is definitely worth it. Practice with the grabber if your gonna have a reef tank. You'll need to be good with the grabber to get corals to stick once your system is set up. Mine has same dimensions but is 36" wide. Go for it!!

This is a 3000 gallon reef tank I used to service. 5' tall 3' wide longer leg is 10 feet and shorter leg is 6 feet if I remember correctly. It was a huge pain to service. We had 5' long tongs and basically had to become masters of placing corals with them. Once every few months we would send someone in the scrape a few spots of acrylic that we couldn't get and fix a few corals and rocks in the tank. Maintenance was a pain but the tank was incredible to look at with its size.

I'm not worried about reaching the bottom I'm putting the corals I already have whenever I do the aquascape.. and new corals will go on the top... just looking for ideas how to scape it... I went to the aquarium and got some ideas
