I had mine 'overbuilt' to 1" but the builder still felt braces were necessary; though it is 6" taller so that may account for the difference.
That would make sense originally I wanted to go 27 inches tall but it increased the price substantially and bracing would be needed to prevent bowing .

Picked up wood today for the canopy

This build is going to be stunning when it's done. I like the decision to go wide and shallow with the overall footprint. I think it lends itself to a natural look once everything grows out.

Your original equipment list, listed four, 1n Sea Swirls - but i only see two so far. Are you still doing the four - one for each corner?

Following along.

4 weeks ago I ordered 2 55g tanks from RuralKing to have a water change /ato station in the closet next to the tank .i will be putting mirrored closet door to hide everything in the closet .

Nice! I was asking because we just released our new 1in RFG Nozzle with a 1in NPT that threads directly into the 1in Sea Swirls - they would rock this tank at 3,000+GPH per side.

I was planning on putting eductors on them once the tank is running but would love to try those out ! The 1000g tank also has 1 inch sea swirls on it as well.

I will have the plumbing completely done tomorrow with plenty of pics . The next thing I need some help with is what do you guys like for cooling fans . I found these vents at Lowe’s and on amazon for the cabinet /canopy to exhaust heat out . I saw another member use these fans to cool his canopy .

It’s a challenger scat pack that originally was getting procharged but I changed plans and am now going twin precision 6870s . The pup is my crazy 9 month old red Doberman .

Soooo niicceee!! I have a real soft spot for the Dodge muscles. That crazy pup is so handsome!! I absolutely adore Dobermans! We don't have room for one in our tiny apartment but the second we do! lol

Also your tank is going to unreal with the planning and effort you've already put in!

I really appreciate it ! Doberman’s are the only dog I’ll ever have .this tank I wanted to do everything right the first time and not have any regrets down the road . It should be running by Sunday night hopefully .

I'm firmly in the open aquascape camp these days. More fish ..... more better.
Before I went with these dimensions I was going to go 96x36x30 but saw a 96x48x18 at my lfs and fell in love with the depth . The tank and sump was built by pro clear and I was very impressed with the build quality !

Today all the plumbing will be done and will try to make some progress on the canopy . Last night We got a lot done on the 1000g . The sump layout for that tank is a 400g refugium that drains into a 200g vat .

I seen you mentioned aquaforest. Do you plan to use their method?

originally I was going to use the full probiotic method but I sat down and added the yearly cost . I would rather keep it simple and use brightwell / polyplab products . I still will be using their balling method and a few of their fish/coral foods .

you make very fast progress! Everything is looking great!
Thank you ! I’m trying to stick to a schedule and have the tank running by Sunday so I can allow it to mature before I go back out to sea .
