Hey everyone,
This is going to be my build thread for my very own AIO creation. To start, I bought this 48x20x12 aquarium brand new today and it came predrilled with a plugged bulkhead (that I won't be using at this time). I have chosen to go this route due to the lack of space below where I intend to put this tank when I move at the end of July (beefy custom built in shelving unit in a wall at my next home).
I have ordered black acrylic online that should be here this week so I can form my sump section in the back. I will be creating a 12" wide and 4" deep sump in the back right corner out of the acrylic I have on order. This will be a simple set up, allowing space for a filter sock, my heaters, temp prone to my apex system, and my return pump to be hidden within the tank.
I'm a pretty low tech guy, and just do religious water changes (10% weekly). None of my equipment is very fancy with exception to the apex system. I will be using 2 Chinese black box led systems that you find on eBay (have been using one on another system for the last 2 years without issue), a jebao pp-8 wavemaker (I have supplemental powerheads I can use if necessary), a couple tetra brand heaters, rectangular innovative marine mid size filter socks with the built on holders, and a 264 gph pacific hydrostar submersible fountain pump I used on a previous tank that has since been consolidated. I'm assuming this pump will give me about the 5x turnover rate I want to run through my internal sump since the tank is going to have an actual 40 gallons or so of water in it by the time rock, corals, and the sump are all in taking up space.
I cannot wait to see how this build progresses, and I hope you guys enjoy the journey as well!

time to drill all the holes to make them functional as baffles and as an overflow weir on the main square piece!
