Hey,

I am trying to figure out the best way to light the 100gallon int peninsula that is on it's way to me. It's roughly 47x30x16. I plan on keeping moslty LPS and softies but with a few easier SPS thrown in as well. I would like to spend less than $1200 but that may not be possible with the width of the tank. Any suggestions. Looking at maybe doing the 36" T5 hybrid but that will probably push the cost up a bit. Oh the overflow is about 5inches out into the middle of the tank so the actual area to light will be closer to 42inches I believe. Thanks!

A single ap9x or 2 kessil 360 and t5 would be about in that range. Maybe a little more.

I think ppl. are missing the fine print... The tank is going to be 30 inches deep. So you are lighting an area 42'' x 30" so that's at least 4 lights with a typical spread of 20 x 20
Ha yeah, I probably should have worded the original post better. Currently I think I'm going to go with the ATI T5 hybrid fixture with 3 AI primes or maybe 2 hydras. The primes will get better spread but not be as powerful but I don't plan on wall to wall sps so hopefully should still be able to pull good enough par levels out.

If you like T5s, an 8 bulb fixture will cover the 30" width. That would be way under budget too.

I understand people liking the hybrid systems. At 30" wide, Primes won't really do anything. You would be better off with 2 rows of them or Hyrdas or Noopsyche turned sideways. Bars of some kind might work well.
