I've had Mr. Blue Hippo Dory for 4 years and about 20 different LPS corals in my 260 gallon saltwater tank. He's suddenly developed a taste for my coral. Any thoughts? I've got about 18 fish in the tank as well. He's got plenty of company and plenty to eat otherwise.

This guy did exactly the same, he was fine for a few years and then tried one and that was it. He devoured the lot, despite me trying to increase feeding.
Its probably a case of accept it and have no zoa’s or move him out. It’s like a ‘dog with a bone’ syndrome!

Tanks are algae Graser’s. They spend all day graising the reefs keeping algae under control. If none is available they are going to eat other things. You are basically feeding candy to them but no proper food. They should get nori every day before any other food. You may have to stop feeding the junk food entirely for a bit to get it eating the correct diet. A strip wrapped around a rock with a rubber band is a good way to feed it. They also sell clips and special holders. You pellets may not be as bad as the other foods depending on what they are made with.

That does not look like a healthy tang from this photo. It looks malnourished and in early stage of lateral line disease. It could be the lighting. An improper diet is one of the causes. A front photo would be a better indication. See my post above.

A hippo tang will develop a taste for certain corals ( even if fat and full) and once it does find that he can eat them, there is pretty much nothing you can do except remove that type of coral from the tank.
