What ya think?

Think I’m only doing soft corals and maybe a shrimp. May not even do the shrimp. I also had this design but it was kind of blah.

Why less rock? I always thought more = better. I’m sticking with only softies. Should I go less rock with space in between?

I don’t think you need less rock, and I quite like your scape (I’m not really a fan of overly dynamic, unnatural looking scapes). I do think going bare bottom in a 5 gal is a bad idea, especially if you’re doing softies, but it’s your tank.

I like the second scape, too. Years ago I had a ten gallon nano that I filled around half way up with small leftover rocks from my other tanks (buried a powerhead in the corner so it would get stagnant down there). But it was maybe one of my favorite tanks I’ve ever done. I had a six line wrasse, firefish, and an orchid dottyback in there and it was so cool watching them swim in and out of the rocks. I only had mushrooms, zoanthids, gsp, and a lone Sinularia in it, so it kind of looked like a field with a tree and then the fish would dive down under ground. Probably not a scape for everyone, but I loved it. Might set something like that back up.

Well, I just think it will look a Little nicer. Some open space creates an entirely new feel to the scape. I like your one with the arch.
