5 gallon desk tank

A few weeks ago I decided to through a small desk tank together. So I found a 5gallon tank I had bought my kids a few years ago and made it rimless. I painted the back glass black. So black sand small led light. And a small CPR hang on refugium as a filter. The. On to the nice coral and my cleaner shrimp as the center piece of the tank. Anyone else building Pico tanks. 5 gallon display 2.5 gallon filter water perfect

Nice! I ran a 2.5 gallon pico for about 7 years. It was nothing more than a power head light and heater for hardware. I did top off with water bottles and weekly quart jar water changes with a premise batch on tap. It was the best little tank ever! Good luck with yours!

For some reason tonight my cleaner shrimp decided to rip apart my torch coral so he got throne in the refug in the back

Yeah that little crap head tore him up pretty good. And I added auto top off to the tank

Well the cleaner shrimp that was in the display tried to eat my torch so no I moved him the the refugium in back I may add a small clown not sure yet may just keep coral in there

I like the aquascape. Have you thought about putting an anemone and a pair of clowns in?

It is a small tank and I am just thinking anemone would be to big with the coral that is in there now

I agree with usmcgriff, a small anemone( BTA would be a good one)would look great and take awhile to out-grow that tank and once it finds a spot it likes, it will stay put

A flame shrimp would be nice in there. From personal experience there not as gluttonous and greedy as a cleaner shrimp is ..

A trio of tiny fire gobies would be sweet in there. Or aquarium in Knoxville has some TINY maroon clowns.
