5 Gallon Pest (Anemone) Tank

Fun with UV light and my phone camera...

Don't you guys wish you had a gracilis anemone? :)

I'm not familiar with the term you used for its name. Looks like a tulip or a bubble tip is it one of those

i will gladly sell you one as a mini BTA :D ... It's a small anemone probably about the size of a quarter to half-dollar, and probably as prolific as majano. BUT, it is a very pretty anemone that shows green with pink tips even in white light. Blue just intensifies the coloration.

I think it's great in a FOWLR but perhaps not in a reef tank. I haven't yet experimented with it in my reef yet to see if it's aggressive or not with other corals but I may give ti a go in a pico.

I know them as tulip nems. Lol

awesome -- learn something new... never knew they were call "tulip anemone" as well... I've seen others also call it "graceful anemone"

Years ago when I started I was warned against them but I filled my refugium with them. They are very pretty. Just as pretty as bta's and multiply three times as fast. LOL such a thin line between Pest and pride

Hence, a pest tank... you can have both pest and pride. lol :)

now i gotta figure out how to lift some hydroid medusae out of my LR curing tank and into my pest tank... hmmm..

Ok, I need a vote as I am undecided... picked up this little nem from another reefer today...comes from a mother that splits like nobody's biz to a point his whole tank is taken over.

That almost qualified as a pest... :)

Should I put this RBTA baby into my pest tank or into my nem tank?

Nem! I hate when people call bta's pests! I know they can reproduce quickly but come on..... lol although it would be cool to see if it is friendly with the other nems. Particularly the tulips.

It's in my nem tank for now but minute it starts splitting like mad, right into the pest tank lol!

So for kicks, I added in a GSP frag from another tank, directly onto the main rock, a clump of GHA, and some bryosis...

I threw in a few random pods that hitch iked but alas, they swam straight into the clutches of a tulip and became instant snack.

Will post pics in a few weeks once things start to take hold and do their thing

I also have a Yuma I picked up at the LFS that's going in tonight... yumas may be treasures to many but they are pests in my book! Toxic lil things... >:(

What started out as a make shift desperate QT using my past rank had now turned into a grow out home for this lil guy...

Everytime I try to get it to my DT, it would hide in a small crevice /cave so he'll keep watch over the posts until he gets too big to sit into that hole....then out he goes!

Updated tank shot... left unmanaged and ignored...

And btw, check put the cuke hitchhiker I tossed in... getting huge. There should be a few more I am hoping that made it and they'll spawn or whatever they do...
