How many tangs would you put in a 125 6 ft tank and what tangs would they be.

To be safe and rule out any personality issues and reduce the stress and hassle of rehoming I'd only add one of the smaller species that stay's under 6".

So you'd recommend something like a tomini or kole tang.

Im doing 5 in my system that im setting up that is the tank mentioned above and i had 3 in my 75 a powder brown a scopas and a tomini and they all got along great and would always school together grazing on the rocks.

Im doing a Tomini, Blonde Naso, Purple, Hippo, and a White Tailed Bristletooth.

1 for me - Yes you have the length but thats not a lot of volume in terms of water still.

Yes its mainly about the size of the fish and swim space but most seem to forget how hard it is to keep on top of nutrients etc when you have lots of large, messy eaters. With such a small volume of water i wouldnt want more than one large species of fish for upkeep reasons as well as fish health.

Naso is 100% out of the question and shouldnt even be considered for me.

Ive gotten some of the best equipment as far as filtration goes and am adding more live rock in sump as well to help with bioload. Im using a Reef octopus regal skimmer that's rated for tanks about double of what i have. And am not doing a continuous island of live rock in the aquarium im doing three islands in the aquarium to give even more swimming space and am not building my aquascape taller than half the aquarium in height to leave the upper half of the aquarium for swimming space as well. Im also going to base my upgrade on and/or give away the blonde naso based on how he acts in the aquarium when he does get bigger. If he is happy swimming around and eating and everything still then i don't see why he couldn't stay when he's bigger but if i see any stress related things then i will either upgrade or find him a bigger home. Im also going to get all my tangs as small as possible and add them all at the same time so that they can grow together and form a school that way. I also feed a ton of rods seaweed on two different algae clips on opposite side of the aquarium which has three different types every day to every other day.

im also using ecotech wave makers to reduce the amount space in the tank that gets taken up as of now i have two mp 40s

My 6 ft 180g, I have a purple, blue hippo, and tomini.

Upon introduction of a small flame angel, the tomini picked on the flame. I boxed the tomini. Upon re introduction 7-10 days later the purple put the tomini in its place for a bit. Now everyone is at peace.

Eh, I hate rehoming so I prolly wouldn't touch the naso or hippo. Ime Naso's grow quick (1st fish I ever had to return to LFS over size).

Long as you oversize the hell out of the skimmer and be prepared for large water changes as they get bigger it can work. Potential behavior amongst genra will be the factor as they get bigger.

The skimmer im using is a reef octopus regal skimmer rated for tanks about double what i have. It is an expensive skimmer but i thought it was necessary for my bioload. Like i also said im useing Ecotech wavemakers for space saving and no cords in the aquarium at all i have two mp 40s on the system for a lot of flow and to help keep the water oxygen rich.
