If the rocks are already purple, it might be hard to see? But, my tank has been up for 7 weeks and I just noticed coraline algae on the glass last night (I was celebrating LOL) so it does seem strange that there wouldn't be any.Sorry to be peppering u with questions.. lol.

Fish aren't overly sensitive to alkalinity, but it's very, very hard to get alkalinity below 6dkh.
You mentioned your salt brand already. What is your source of water for salt mixing and top off?
You would expect to see a little coraline and/or algae in a system that has been up as long as yours.
Corals can be easy too. Just depends which fish and which corals you chooseI was just thinking about how much easier fish are than corals.
