50% fish survival rate?

NO, only this dryrock.

Thanks everyone for your help. I know its hard to know. Just really needed to know that its not a "fish are hard" thing.

Your tank looks good. Covered, so no one jumped out. Very strange.

do u have a pic under whites? I'd be interested to see how the rocks look? U have nice coraline yet? Any algae?

I just started checking my alk, and its been running way low (4.5 or so). I took advice from lfs and started adding Tropic Martin all for reef (started with 5m/l slowly up to 10 M/l per day and latest test 2 days ago was 6.8 if I remember correctly. But most of the fish died before I started testing for alk. (calc was also low 360, but latest test was 430). could low alk kill fish and if so why would my blood shrimp be ok.

Have a quick meeting will return shortly. No, the rocks are purple like I bought them, no coraline or any other algae. Sand and rocks are clear.

Sorry to be peppering u with questions.. lol.
Just trying to tease out details so you can get the answers u need.
Fish aren't overly sensitive to alkalinity, but it's very, very hard to get alkalinity below 6dkh.

You mentioned your salt brand already. What is your source of water for salt mixing and top off?
You would expect to see a little coraline and/or algae in a system that has been up as long as yours.

If the rocks are already purple, it might be hard to see? But, my tank has been up for 7 weeks and I just noticed coraline algae on the glass last night (I was celebrating LOL) so it does seem strange that there wouldn't be any.

and I'm back. Don't be sorry. I appreciate the info and help. I agree I should have some algae. I figured it was because of my low calcium levels. I have had a bout of green algae on my sand bed and also some (? red algae on sand and rocks, is it Diatoms?) but both have cleared up and the tank is almost to clean. I don't think I have any coralline, but hoping to get some now that I'm dosing all for reef, and my levels are coming up. I get both salt and rodi from lfs, and I think they told me they use Tropic Martin blue .

I'll try to grab a white light photo tonight.

and what a hard time that is to figure out!
